What I’m Reading
Think and Grow Rich has been called the "Granddaddy of All Motivational Literature." It was the first book to boldly ask, "What makes a winner?" The man who asked and listened for the answer, Napoleon Hill, is now counted in the top ranks of the world's winners himself.
The book draws its inspiration from stoicism, the ancient Greek philosophy of enduring pain or adversity with perseverance and resilience. Stoics focus on the things they can control, let go of everything else, and turn every new obstacle into an opportunity to get better, stronger, tougher. As Marcus Aurelius put it nearly 2000 years ago: “The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”
When most people create business partnerships, they focus on potential opportunities, their office, titles, mission statements, stationary, logos, social media platforms, and more. But entrepreneurs Bryan O'Rourke and Robert J. Dyer know there is much more to establishing a successful partnership.
Throughout your life, you've had parents, coaches, teachers, friends and mentors who have pushed you to be better than your excuses and bigger than your fears. What if the secret to having the confidence and courage to enrich your life and work is simply knowing how to push yourself?
Using the science of habits, riveting stories and surprising facts from some of the most famous moments in history, art and business, Mel Robbins will explain the power of a "push moment." Then, she'll give you one simple tool you can use to become your greatest self.
It takes just five seconds to use this tool, and every time you do you'll be in great company. More than 8 million people have watched Mel's TEDx Talk, and executives inside of the world's largest brands are using the tool to increase productivity, collaboration, and engagement.

How often are you exhausted by being busy all the time, but not ever feeling very productive? Do you get frustrated that you’re not closer to living the life you dreamed of?
If so, get ready to download some KNOWLEDGE that’s going to CHANGE how you live.
As a premier Keynote Speaker and leading authority on achievement for audiences as large as 80,000—Les Brown energizes people to meet the challenges of the world around them. He skillfully weaves his compelling life story into the fabric of our daily lives. Born in the slums of Liberty City in Miami, Florida and given up for adoption at six weeks of age, he struggled through a mistakenly declared learning disability but persevered through hard work and was able to become one of the top speakers in the world. His latest book is called, You’ve Got To Be Hungry: The Greatness To Win Within.
How do we get rid of stress? What causes depression and anxiety? Is there a way to actually control what’s going on inside our heads, or does it all depend on the experiences we face in life?
These are the questions that I have definitely asked myself, and I’m sure you probably have too! The mind is a fascinating thing. It is the control center of our bodies, and it determines the way that we interpret the world around us. We make decisions based on thoughts, emotions, and instincts — all of which originate from the mind.
"It's not about the exit. It's about working with the right people who recognize that this brand stands for something and they're prepared to put the resources behind it," states Todd Waks. A self-described, "serial brand marketer," Todd was diagnosed with stage 3A melanoma and moved into the HALO sector. As the CEO of AKESO water (named after the Greek goddess of healing and curing) AKESO is the world's first and only odorless, colorless, tasteless broad spectrum CBD water. It's also the first and only fully verifiable food or beverage in the history of that industry. Todd discusses the current status of the CBD world, where it's going, how they've become the gold standard in their space, their plans for the future, and more!

What book are you reading? What threads are you following? Which podcast or audio book are you listening to? How many “Self Help”, “Personal Development”, “Leadership”, or other type of educational content sources have you consumed in the past 3 months? If you are the kind of person who opened this article, then you are probably counting them off, naming each of them out loud as you extend another finger.
Imagine the pilgrims, in 1621, as they gathered at Plymouth Rock to celebrate their life in the new world. They had survived the 66-day voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, a ferocious first winter, and numerous encounters with wildlife, and natives in the new land. You know that those who were there must have thought back over the previous year, the years and events that led them to leave their homeland, and all that encompassed them ending up living there in this amazing new land with the promise of an amazing future.
As a leader, how do you get people to do what needs to be done? This is a question I was recently asked, while being interviewed on the “Go Local, Unfiltered” Podcast. I was also asked this question by @mel tempest, on the “Gym Owners Fitness Business” Podcast a couple years ago. If you are in a leadership role, hopefully, this question has already triggered you to start thinking about your own personal strategy for leading teams to success and reflecting on “how” you were able to make that happen.
It has been a year since the world as we knew it came to a screeching halt. Forced into isolation, virtual meetings and gatherings, physical distancing, face covering, and sickness like most have never seen in their lifetime. It has truly impacted everyone at some level. Unemployment, separation from loved ones, anxiety, depression, and tragically, loss of life. I don’t know that anyone was prepared for the impact this pandemic.
